Meals on Wheels of Boulder is a well-established, innovative 501(c)(3) organization that started serving in Boulder in 1969.
Our mission is to provide tasty, nutritious meals to residents of our community who need and want our service, regardless of age or income.
Practically speaking, we provide ready-to-eat meals to vulnerable populations -- older adults, disabled or those suffering a long-term illness -- here in our hometown of Boulder.
Since our modest beginning, we have continually evolved to meet the changing needs of our community and of our clients: we've added and adjusted special diets based on scientific findings, modified our management-delivery systems, developed new products and services and more.
We recently modified our menus to appeal to a health- and quality-conscious audience who seeks fresh, flavorful, colorful and nutritious food. And our Cafe Classico restaurant reflects our fresh approach, offering a welcoming environment where our guests can socialize in a comfortable setting. You'll find no mushy peas here! But if seafood paella, roasted chicken with polenta or teriyaki salmon appeals to you, then give us a try. Take a look at our monthly menus!
Currently, we deliver over 200 meals on a daily basis, plus another 100+ frozen meals requested by clients for weekend use. We also provide an affordable daily buffet style lunch in our restaurant, Cafe Classico. On Tuesday evenings, we serve an evening meal with entertainment in a social setting.
Because we don't accept federal or state government funding, we have more flexibility than similar organizations across the country. We have no restrictions to prevent anyone in Boulder from using our services - we serve young adults with chronic illnesses, severe disabilities and injuries. We serve regardless of age or income. We are able to respond with a home-delivered meal in fewer than 24 hours after learning of the need.
We strive to go far beyond simply providing food to those in need. We're in the business of preventing conditions that force people to move from their homes -- illness, lack of services, isolation. We provide both HEALTH and CARE to our clients - we help them stay in their own homes as long as possible, providing contact with warm, caring volunteers and appealing, nutritious food. We delivered nearly 80,000 meals in 2016, and with your support, we have no intention of slowing down!
