40 YEARS OF SERVICE!

It is the mission of Meals on Wheels of Boulder to provide nutritious meals to residents of our community who need our service, regardless of age or income.   Our program consists of the delivery of a hot, nutritious meal at noon to the elderly, the handicapped, those restricted to their homes and those who are convalescing.   We also provide meals to residents of Boulder in a congregate setting at a highly discounted rate. 

When Meals on Wheels delivered its first 15 meals in December 1969, no one could have imagined the organization would produce more than 81,000 meals in 2009 with demand expected to reach 124,000 by the year 2020!  In the first 40 years, we prepared more than 1.6 million meals!  As we begin our 41st year, our vision is clear and strong:  to provide a tasty, hot, nutritious meal to our Boulder neighbors who need our service -- regardless of race, creed, political views, age or income!

• Volunteer drivers deliver 200 hot meals daily, 5 days a week, year round to Boulder area clients who are confined to their homes.
• We serve lunch to 60-70 guests every weekday at Café Classico located at 909 Arapahoe Avenue, in Boulder.
• 80-120 guests enjoy dinner and a show each Tuesday evening at Café Classico.
• We serve nearly 400 home delivery clients.
• 26% under age 60
• 34% age 60-79
• 40% over 80
• 29% cannot afford to pay more than $1/meal, some pay nothing
• In 2009, 326 volunteers donated nearly 10,000 hours! If we had to hire staff to fulfill our mission, the annual cost would have been more than$200,000.
• We completed an extensive kitchen renovation in September 2006.
• We have prepared more than 1.6 million meals since 1969!
